Reading Street Begins!

This week we have started our first unit in Reading Street, all about exploring new places and new things!  Our first story, "Iris and Walter" (see the Reading Street link at the top of the page) is about exploring a new neighborhood.  We have been comparing and contrasting different kinds of neighborhoods and learning about the words "urban" and "rural."  Our song-of-the-week, called "Let's Go Investigate," helps us to remember the difference between these words.

We also made a Venn Diagram together about urban and rural neighborhoods.

We have also been reviewing short vowels.  See below to refresh your memory on short-vowel rules, and see our list of short-vowel words.  Be on the lookout for short-vowel words this weekend!

Have a fantastic weekend!  See you Monday!  :)
