Homework Center

Homework is an important addition to the school day because it allows the students to practice and review the skills and concepts they have learned in the classroom. In addition, the responsibility of homework aids your child in becoming an independent learner. For the most part, all homework is due the following day, with exceptions for students who have been absent. Students are expected to have their homework completed and to pass it in as soon as they enter the classroom. Students will typically have math, spelling, and reading homework each night.

The math pages are labeled either "Spiral Review" (SR) or "Practice" (P).  The Spiral Review pages are unrelated to the day's math lesson and are used to review concepts and skills the students have previously learned (first grade material for now).  If your student is struggling, they may have either forgotten or never have learned the material.  Help them where you can, and please write me a note on the homework to let me know they struggled.  The Practice pages are directly related to a second grade lesson (either today's, yesterday's, or even the day before).  Students should be familiar with these pages and able to complete them with minimal help.  Again, please write me a note if your student struggles with the homework so that I know to review it with them or reteach the material.  Thanks for supporting your student with his or her homework!  :)
