First Few Days!

Well, we've made it through our first few days of second grade!  It has been a lot of getting-to-know each other and learning many routines and expectations in the classroom, but we've also had a lot of fun.  On Tuesday we did a scavenger hunt to learn about our classroom, and today we created a graph about our birthdays!  We found out that August has the most birthdays - 5 kids!

We've also read a lot of great stories, most having to do with starting a new year of school.  They are helping us to be comfortable in our new classroom and learn about how to treat one another.  Here are the ones we've read so far:

Today we also created our classroom rules.  We started with the three basic Forestdale Rules:
                 1.  Be Safe
                 2.  Be Responsible
                 3.  Be Respectful
We then brainstormed how each one of these would look in our classroom.  Check out the posters below to see what we came up with!  Tomorrow each of us will be signing a class contract agreeing to follow these classroom rules.  Please talk with your students about the importance of being safe, responsible, and respectful at school.  Your support is greatly appreciated!
